Prime Function, Roles and Responsibility

Project Control Unit
As a Secretariat to the Director General of Public Works Department in the Implementation and Coordination of National Development Plan Projects, which are assigned to Public Works Department

• To Play a Major Role in Expediting the Implementation of Development Project under PWD
• Make Recommendation of Project Consultancy Team Member

• To Standardise and Streamline the Project Progress Reporting System
• To Address and Resolve Project Delays/Potential Delays

• To Enhance Control of Project Finance
• To Liaise with Ministries / Government Agencies/ others in Resolving Problems/Delays

• Carry out Coordination Meeting with Client and Parties involved
• Recording Warrant Requisition from other Department and Warrant Approval from Economic, Planning and Development Department

Development Control Unit

• Receive and Process Applications for Private Developments which are either Land or building Developments through TCP, Land Department or Municipal Board depending on the area of control
• Checking the Technical Aspects of the Applied Development which includes Road, Drainage, Sewerage, Earthwork and other related matters

• Provide Approval of the Application on behalf of PWD
• Process the Payment for the Service Fees for any Development Application within the control area of the Development Control Competent Authority (DCCA)

• To be Involved in the Inspection of the Whole Development especially Building Projects with other members of the Approving Authority and Give Recommendations to enable the Approving Authority to Issue an Occupancy Permit to the Landowner
